SLOVAC CUVAC
HISTORY BRIEF:
DESCRIPTION: Females: weight 60-95 pounds; height 23+ inches. Males: weight 85-115 pounds; height 25+ inches. WORKING CHARACTERISTICS: The Slovac Cuvac is generally less reactive than some other LGD breeds, and has moderate energy. They form strong bonds with their people and livestock. Some Cuvac breeders have been selecting for companion dog traits so some dogs can be quite active and lively. Situational to this, AKC has placed the breed in the herding group instead of the working group so some breeders are selecting for herding traits, which would nullify the dog as a LGD. RESEARCH THE BREEDER! Cuvac will bark and threaten but generally do not react aggressively. They are better in a home/farm guardian situations than working as a full time livestock guardian dog. |
HEALTH: Slovac Cuvac are subject to certain genetic and hereditary diseases and should be screened for these conditions before breeding. Please click the links below to learn more.
